Audio Classes FAQ

Tell me more about the classes!

Here is a list and description of the audio classes posted in April 2020. Looks amazing, right? When you join, these will all be available to you, as well as new practices every month.

How much does it cost?
SkYoga Sangha is a new way to study with me via an economical monthly membership.
There is a suggested community price ($19.99), a “feeling flush” price ($29.99) and a third option, to pay what feels right.

These practices are offered right from my heart and I want them to be available whatever your financial circumstances are. To those who are able to pay more: thank you for supporting my teaching. To those who are just able to practice: thank you for supporting my teaching.

What does membership include?
As many classes as you’d like. As many times as you’d like. I’ll be adding at least four new practices every month. You will receive periodic newsletters with announcements and special programs. I’ll also be eager to hear and respond to your feedback and requests. Committing to membership is a generous way to support my teaching in an ongoing way.

Twenty percent off of one-on-one Zoom Yoga and Meditation classes!

A free pop-up, live class every month!

I have commitment issues. Can I just try an individual class?
Every month I will offer at least two free practices. These classes require no membership or registration.

Are audio classes appropriate for brand new beginners?
While these classes are designed to meet you where you are, if you have never done yoga before and are not familiar with some of the basic poses and principles, you may prefer to practice in a situation in which you get more visual guidance, as well, ideally, as feedback from a teacher. I hope to offer a beginners series via an interactive platform in the near future. Please get in touch if this interests you or you would like to schedule a one-on-one session via Zoom.

The meditation practices are fully guided. Do read the class descriptions so that you know the length of the class, and whether it is suggested as an introductory practice or not.

I get the attraction of the audio-only environment, but how do I know if I am doing the poses right?
Consider these lines from the poet Rumi:

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

The audio “field” of these classes invites you to bring attention to the experience of the poses rather than what they look like. Alignment cues are designed to bring you deeper into each experience as well as to explore practices that I hope are beneficial physically and mentally. If you are a little confused at certain moments, don’t worry! Confusion can be a great teacher. As long as you are paying attention and not experiencing pain in the poses, you are doing them right. Always feel free to email me with feedback, concerns and questions.

Does this mean you won’t be doing any videos? Never say never. Stay tuned on this topic.

What will happen when in-person classes return? I can not wait to be in-person with you again! Nevertheless, I still hope to build and develop this community with students both near and far. Expect the offerings here to evolve both in terms of content and technology. I want to hear from you on this! (And, of course, you can cancel your membership at any time.)

Speaking of Technology
Audio is blessedly low-tech. Once you join, start from your account page and you will find a complete list of classes available. Play the sound files directly from the website using the sound on your device, or connecting to speakers or headphones. Each recording has it’s own volume button which you can adjust as well as the sound on your device. Please let me know if you have any technical difficulties. The files can not be downloaded.

The big dog voice that occasionally contributes to the recordings is from this tough little gal. The first few months of recordings are pandemic-improvisations. I am slowly developing a teeny bit of home audio sophistication. I appreciate your patience and support!
